- CONFIANZA -

MI FAMILIA!

I had quite the week, hermanos! We had zone conference, a ward talent show (I have a video of the decorations and fun), and it was MEXICO'S INDEPENDENCE DAY YESTERDAY!

Also, I think I'm getting used to the spice here because I used to hate the Mexican candy, chile, and stuff in my food, but now I'M IN LOVE! Hermana Huerta (mi compañera) has been doing all she can to make me a TRUE LATINA, and well folks, I think I am getting there! VIVA MEXICO!

Like I said, we had our mission zone conference this week! We had a meeting, a piñata, and games! It was so fun! I also had my interview with the President. In my meeting with him, I told him, "I need to work on my CONFIDENCE." He asked me, "What do you think confidence means?"

I reflected on this, and he later had me share my testimony in front of EVERYONE! (Yikes! I shouldn’t have said what I said in the meeting!) Just kidding, it was exactly what I needed! I took a leap of faith and relied on the Spirit to help me share what was in my heart. I shared my testimony about "CONFIAR EN DIOS - Trust in God." What I learned from this experience is that confidence truly is TRUSTING in our SAVIOR. To take that one step and fully send it when it is scary, knowing that it will all be okay in the end with the Savior's HELP!

The truth is, I hate sharing my feelings with others—it makes me feel uncomfortable. I would rather tell people that everything will be okay, but I know for a fact that without my trials, the moments in my life, and the things I’ve learned from them, I would not be as strong as I am today. And how could I help others with their confidence and trust in our Heavenly Father if I’m not confident in sharing my own experiences in trusting Him and the blessings I have received?

I would like to relate this to my experience with sports, but specifically TRACK. The anxiety before the gun goes off before a race is surreal, let me tell you! I would pray before and thank Heavenly Father for my abilities, that I would trust in Him and take something from the experience to grow from it, no matter what happens. I always felt so much calmer when I prayed to Heavenly Father beforehand, knowing that He was with me. Then I would head to the line. The gun would go off, and with all the courage, strength, and trust in the Savior, I RAN.

Through my experience in track, I can tell you guys that HEAVENLY FATHER IS MY CONFIDENCE. He was the reason I was able to gather all the courage I have, get rid of the nerves and anxiety, and rely on Him—and just RUN.

A scripture that testifies of this is in Proverbs 3:26:

"For the Lord shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken."

In Preach My Gospel, it teaches that confidence is part of faith, and faith is a principle of action and power! We can strengthen our faith when we TRUST IN OUR SAVIOR and HIS CONFIDENCE IN US! As well as through praying, obeying the commandments, and studying the scriptures, like when I prayed to our Heavenly Father before my race.

Overall, I invite you guys to do something out of your comfort zone this week! Use your confidence and trust in the Savior that YOU CAN DO IT! For example, saying a prayer in church in front of others or going out of your way to talk to a random person!
