¡NECESITA COCA!
Hola!
OK, first off - RAMBUTAN (the BEST fruit in the WORLD)!! I tried it a week ago and fell in love! Sadly, rambutan is only grown here. Sorry. I also tried papaya and mangosteen, along with many other things. Papaya is alright, and mangosteen is also really good! They grow on so many trees!
With that said, gullible Hermana Boden was trying to get some rambutan off a random tree (jumping as high as I could) when a lady spotted us! I was like, "oh no," because it could have been her tree. My companion and I looked at each other with concern... The lady said, "come here!... I have more inside." Phew. We got some fruit and were also able to give her a little lesson. So my gullibility led us to teach this lady! Pretty good!
Hermana Boden also put her hair in a French braid, a pretty proud moment! (I'm not very good at hair). I always had my cousin Rue do it back home.
Here they call Coke "Coca." When I was younger and started my love for sports, I quit drinking caffeine. A week ago, a bunch of the Elders were trying to convince me to drink Coca. Stubborn and strong Hermana Boden didn't give in, but they told me, "lots of households are going to be offended if you don't drink their Coca." I didn't believe them. Wow, was I wrong. A lady offered me Coca and insisted that I drink it! I took a sip, and it's not bad, I guess.
A lot of people we pass call me "Whirita" (white woman), and it makes me laugh.
Guys, the people here are amazing! We taught a man who is one of the leaders of a different church and his daughter. He said he had a vision and felt good about our church. I bore my testimony during our lesson, and he said he could tell the Spirit was helping me, and he felt it. I WANT TO CRY; I'M SO HAPPY!! I can't wait to see where this goes!
We have dates for 5 OF OUR FRIENDS TO GET BAPTIZED!! Yep, my heart is full!
Being away from everything I’m used to, learning a new language, and trying new things is challenging and scary, but I’ve been focusing on the positive and on all the blessings and tender mercies Heavenly Father has blessed me with. I’ve made new friends; it is an honor to learn the beautiful language so I can share the wonderful gospel with my friends. I’m actually starting to understand what people are saying a little more now. I’ve gained a stronger testimony of the gospel and missionary work, and so much more!
Master Shifu said it best: "IF YOU ONLY DO WHAT YOU CAN DO, YOU'LL NEVER BE BETTER THAN WHAT YOU ARE."
Go out there, do your best, and shoot for the moon!
