YOYOYOYO mi familia y amigos!!

I found "THE QUESADILLA!" Not gonna lie, I was kind of disappointed with the quesadillas here so far. It’s one of my favorite foods, and I was expecting better! Until... some members took us out to eat quesadillas, and these quesadillas were GIGANTIC and FANTASTIC! THE BEST QUESADILLAS IN THE WORLD, no doubt! Of course, I took photos! Hermana Boden is HAPPY and FULFILLED now that she found the quesadillas she has been looking for! My workout was definitely a little longer that night!

Also, I forgot to tell you guys about an incident from a few weeks ago! Hermana Huerta and I had just finished eating at a member’s house, and we were walking in the street when we saw this guy walking slowly and drunkenly toward us. He had blood running down both sides of his mouth! I would literally compare him to a ZOMBIE. He was walking closer and closer to us and was saying things that I did not understand. Hermana Huerta said he was saying in Spanish, "Why are you walking away? Why are you scared?" We avoided him, as he was very slow, and walked away. I wasn’t that scared, though, because it was daytime, and I knew we were protected. Plus, I’m strong—I can beat him up!

Not gonna lie, this week Satan was really working on me. I prayed A LOT. I got in my head a ton, got insecure with my Spanish, felt like I wasn’t doing enough for the members and my amigos in teaching, and overall felt like my testimony and I weren’t good enough. But man, was I proven wrong!

With my hard week, I have a story. It was Sunday, and we had a lesson with a guy who had shown interest and said he wanted to get baptized. We have only been teaching him for two weeks. This lesson, with him and two other members accompanying us, was really marvelous! Hermana Huerta and I wanted to get down to business and ask him when he wanted to get baptized.

Our lesson was about the Restoration. We taught him, and the members bore their testimonies. Then it was my turn, and I was inspired to tell him my conversion story. I explained it in Spanish (it came out so naturally), and the spirit was so strong! He told us that he wanted to get baptized this Sunday! Hermana Huerta told me how strong, clear, cute, and powerful my testimony was.

This is my conversion story: when I was 8 years old, the year I got baptized and received my scriptures, I had so many questions. Why baptism? Why the Holy Spirit? Why the Book of Mormon? Why? The story is kind of long, but long story short, I ASKED my Heavenly Father and then opened my scriptures to a random page in the Book of Mormon—2 Nephi 31:13, and it reads:

"Wherefore, my beloved brethren, I know that if ye shall follow the Son, with full purpose of heart, acting no hypocrisy and no deception before God, but with real intent, repenting of your sins, witnessing unto the Father that ye are willing to take upon you the name of Christ, by baptism—yea, by following your Lord and your Savior down into the water, according to his word, behold, then shall ye receive the Holy Ghost; yea, then cometh the baptism of fire and of the Holy Ghost; and then can ye speak with the tongue of angels, and shout praises unto the Holy One of Israel."

To be honest, I didn’t know exactly what it was saying because I was only 8 at the time, but I felt so powerfully in my heart that it was true, and ever since then, I have relied and trusted in it. I knew that Heavenly Father showed me, through the Book of Mormon, the purpose of why we are here and the importance of baptism and the Holy Ghost.

I then also explained to our amigo that Joseph Smith asked in prayer as well and received answers. In the end, I said, "Invitemos usted a PREGUNTAR" – "We invite you to ASK."

This moment showed me that as I trust in our Heavenly Father and the Holy Spirit, I will be able to help others and show them the importance of this true gospel. With Heavenly Father by my side, I know I am stronger than Satan and can defeat these negative thoughts in my head!

My invitation for you guys today is the same as the one we gave our amigo. It is ASK. If you have questions, ponder them in your heart and ask our Heavenly Father with real intent. I know that you can receive answers! It may not be in the way or the time you want, but Heavenly Father knows you and your needs and will answer one way or another. I KNOW FROM EXPERIENCE, AMIGOS!

¡Holaaaaa! In my studies this week, I have been focusing on the people out in the field I get the opportunity to teach. Also, I leave for the field next week, and I’ve been here over a month (time slow down!). A scripture I read and that has stuck out to me is in Luke 15:4, and it says: "What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?" The last few years, I’ve had the desire to be a nurse or something like it. There is so much I can say, but through my CNA clinicals and working at an assisted living facility, I’ve seen people in pain, and it hurts to watch. It got me thinking about how our Savior feels that pain. He feels our pain, sorrows, and trials. That can't be easy, but it is also a blessing because He knows how we feel. So turn to Him in prayer, and He can bring you comfort. I know from experience because I pray A LOT that He is a GREAT LISTENE...

! EN LA TIERRA PROMETIDA !

¡Buenos días! ¿Cómo están? How is everyone doing? Here in Cacahoatán, a member, Hermano Marvin, has been teaching my compañera and me more about the history of the Book of Mormon, and let me tell you, it's FASCINATING! After our discussion, he asked me how I felt, and I said, "NO TENGO PALABRAS" - "I HAVE NO WORDS." First off, he showed us a map of the Book of Mormon lands, which are in the Mesoamericas. He says Hermana Huerta and I are extremely lucky because we are literally serving in "A PROMISED LAND" mentioned in the Book of Mormon! There are a few stones here, but one we specifically focused on is the IZAPA STONE (The Tree of Life). This stone includes many pictures and symbols from the scriptures! Ahh, I wish I could sit down and explain it all to you right now! I still need to do a lot more research, though. I bought a stone and will put a picture of it in my Google Photos, along with the map, for you all if you are interested! You can basicall...

¡NECESITA COCA!

Hola! OK, first off - RAMBUTAN (the BEST fruit in the WORLD)!! I tried it a week ago and fell in love! Sadly, rambutan is only grown here. Sorry. I also tried papaya and mangosteen, along with many other things. Papaya is alright, and mangosteen is also really good! They grow on so many trees! With that said, gullible Hermana Boden was trying to get some rambutan off a random tree (jumping as high as I could) when a lady spotted us! I was like, "oh no," because it could have been her tree. My companion and I looked at each other with concern... The lady said, "come here!... I have more inside." Phew. We got some fruit and were also able to give her a little lesson. So my gullibility led us to teach this lady! Pretty good! Hermana Boden also put her hair in a French braid, a pretty proud moment! (I'm not very good at hair).
